Consulting

Why consider consulting?:

For experienced candidates who have not consulted before, these types of positions are temporary and are limited by project duration, which typically runs from 3 to 12 months.  Many consultants prefer to form their own corporations, usually referred to as "1099" status, that offer the benefits of a corporation, including increased retirement funding.  Consulting roles also usually pay a premium over your full-time salary and allow you to maintain your skills and resume while the economy is slow in full-time job growth.  As the backlog of projects increase, many companies are looking to bring on consultants before they commit to hiring full-time employees.  Additionally, some postions are temp-to-perm positions; clients will sometimes hire consultants, who have performed well on temporary projects, as full-time hires.
